Scientific research

Practix capitalises on the results of studies carried out by the i3 research unit at Fondazione Bruno Kessler. The i3 research unit is a multidisciplinary research group that studies man-machine interaction in the field of group interaction and the development of collaborative tools. Since 2002, the group has conducted studies on the impact of multi-user interfaces. During these years of research, new applications and news ways to interact with interactive surfaces have been developed, and experiments have been carried out to evaluate the effect of the systems that have been developed under conditions of real use.

In the area of scientific research carried out by the unit, advanced prototypes of systems to assist relationships between participants during business meetings, between children and teachers, and between autistic babies and their therapists have been developed. During these years of research, many different table systems have been used, in order to create personalised hardware systems based on the use of video cameras, microphones and other sensors. Practix, created in 2010, makes use of these important experiences and makes them available to clients in order to create state-of-the-art tools to support groups.
